Websphere Administrator

 

Description
· Installs, configures, supports, and administers Websphere and HTTPServer systems on AIX environments (Windows experience is fine as long as there is some familiarity/knowledge of Unix).
· Monitors, optimizes, and reports on performance and stability of web applications and components utilizing both vendor-supplied and third party tools.
· Configures connections to external data sources, including DB2.
· Oversees procedures for the deployment of code, HTML, and image revisions in accordance with corporate Change Management practices.
· Troubleshoots problems related to web architecture and applications in conjunction with helpdesk, development team, networking team, and vendor.
· Develops scripts to automate administrative and monitoring tasks.
· Designs logical and physical WebSphere and HTTP architecture, including WebSphere instances, clusters, nodes, load balancing, and plug-ins, URLs, and SSL certificates. Assists development and project teams in designing applications consistent with established architecture. Assists network team in maintaining availability, performance, and security. Assists in server selection and capacity planning.
· Plans and implements the installation of hot-packs, fixes, and upgrades as required.
· Provides off-hours support as needed.
· Documents system landscape and administrative procedures.

 

Requirements
· Several years experience in administration and support of IBM WebSphere production systems in a business environment.
· Knowledge of WebSphere internals and interpretation of log files.
· Ability to analyze and resolve performance issues.
· Strong understanding of internet and networking concepts and practices.
· Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting techniques.
· Proven expertise in developing Unix scripts

· Proven expertise in Java/Perl programming

· Demonstrated expertise in system landscape design and implementation.
· Able to support production applications 24/7.
· Prefer Unix/Linux background, but Windows background will work as well as long as there is some kind of familiarity with Unix.
· Understand Project Management concepts and System Development Life Cycle.
· Strong oral and written communications skills.
Applicants should possess a 4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

 

Location is IOWA.  This is a permanent positionExcellent Salary based on your experience.  We have similar positions in the S. Jersey/Delaware also.   Company will relocate.  Solid Company – this is a growth position.
